 <title>Lidköping: Biogas – A Joint Venture</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The development of biomethane production in the City of Lidk&amp;ouml;ping was initiated in 1990, and in autumn 2011 the plant at the Kart&amp;aring;sen refuse treatment plant will operate with full capacity. It is one of the first of its kind in the world producing both compressed and liquid biomethane for vehicles. The production will be sufficient to cover the consumption of 6,000 cars driving 17,000 km annually.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Porvoo: Energy-efficient Residential Area </title>

 <title>Lahti: CHP-plant using solid recovered fuel</title>

The full-scale use of the new power plant will reduce some 40 % of the amount of coal used in the old power plant, which will now be substituted. The concept combining the efficient waste sorting of Lahti area with large scale energy production in CHP plant shows were the ambitiousness in municipal energy production can lead into.  <title>Drammen: Marienlyst School and the local heating network</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The heating source for the building is a self-owned local heating network based on heat pumps from two large skating rinks.  <title>Jomala: District Heating and Biogas</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;In 2005-2010 a project was carried out to replace many old boilers in individual buildings by building a local district heating network. Simultaneously the dairy built a gasification plant to utilize its process waste in gas production. In 2010 the district heating system, operated by the municipalityowned company Jomala Energi Ab, was in operation. The main byproduct utilized in the gasification is whey. The gas is fed to the district heating boiler and also used for heating in the dairy process.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Tampere: ECO2</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The project coordinates energy and climate actions of the various departments of the city and initiates cooperation projects with business partners, universities, research institutes and civil society organizations.  <title>Vestmannaeyjar: The sustainable development</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The project is a joint effort between the University of Iceland, the National Energy Agency, the Innovation Centre in Vestmannaeyjar, local authorities and the biggest industries.  <title>Sunndal: Urban development in a climate perspective</title>
