The aim of Sustainable Cities™ is to inspire politicians, architects, city planners, businesses, NGO’s and citizens all over the world to learn from each other and to collaborate with each other to transform the worlds less sustainable cities into the more sustainable cities of future.
The Sustainable Cities™ database is sponsored by Realdania and created and operated by DAC Danish Architecture Centre.
Sustainable Cities™ collects and disseminates knowledge on cases and initiatives from cities all over the world. You will find inspiration on how to improve public transport, optimize waste management, reduce energy consumption, manage stormewater locally, feed the sustainable city, and many, many other issues. You can read the cases, dive into the learning points, study the facts, learn from the experts and watch images and films. New cases and new initiatives will continually be added to the database.
Sustainable Cities™ also provides information on how to improve sustainability through altered individual actions. It provides experts’ input on actions that may improve sustainability in cities significantly, and gives a rough outline of the development of the sustainability paradigm. In addition, you can contribute with your opinion on which challenges you consider most important to address in the struggle to create sustainable cities.
The next step of the Sustainable Cities™ database is to establish an online network for city planners and others interested in sustainable city development, where you can share projects, articles and debates on the subject.
The Sustainable Cities™ database is sponsored by Realdania [1].
