Sustainable cities according to the Danish minister for the environment

Compact, green, blue and healthy. This is how Danish Minister for the Environment, Troels Lund Pulsen, envisions the future for danish cities. He today published a new agenda offering it to the danish public for discussion. Over the coming months debates will be carried out in preparation for launching an urban policy report expected in April 2009.

The minister issued an invitation to all the municipalities in Denmark to take part in the debates and to come up with ideas for creating more sustainable cities in Denmark.

Urban sprawl, longer time spent on transportation, and climate change implications are but some of the issues that the minister feels need to be thoroughly discussed.

You can read the new agenda here (pdf in Danish only).
