The 20 cities of 2020
Building strong foundations for the future has earned 20 cities the distinction of being named among Ethisphere Institute's "2020 Global Sustainability Centers." Ten cities of more than 600.000 inhabitants and ten cities with less than 600.000 inhabitants comprise the list. Cities were considered for their environmental and sustainability practices; health and recreation; education, arts and culture; economic and business environment; regulatory framework; law enforcement and transparency; media and speech; transportation and housing; and innovation and investment.
"As future global centers, their planning will positively impact the quality of life of successive generations and provide a model for other cities to emulate," said Stefan Linssen, managing editor of Ethisphere Magazine.
Among the cities on the list are Toronto, Hyderabad, Cape Town, Wellington and Copenhagen.
