Mount Royal, Montreal - an indispensable green public space or a hole in the metropolis?

In the middle of Montreal, with dense rows of houses on all sides, rises one of the largest urban parks in the world, Park Mount Royal. The park is over 200 hectares and is a unique place that combines activities such as trekking and snowboarding with the protection of biodiversity. Real estate agents call it crazy, but the Montrealers have decided that the mountain should be protected from further urban development.
