Save paper

Make an effort. Use less paper and think about alternative ways of putting the paper to use again.

Today, paper used for all sorts of purposes, accounts for more than half of all municipal solid waste. Anything we can do to save paper will not alone help to reduce the amount of waste, but also reduce the use of energy and water and pollution associated with manufacturing, transporting, and recycling new paper products. Regarding the emission of CO², we know that trees are an important element of reducing CO² in the atmosphere and when we save paper, we reduce the need to cut down trees to make new paper.

By thinking about the amount of paper used for all sorts of things everyday at work or at home, we can save energy and water and at the same time reduce deforestation. You can use the print range feature available in most programs to print only the exact pages that you need or you can reuse by printing on the blank side or even use it to jot down notes for yourself instead of wasting Post it notes and blank paper. Reusing wrapping paper will also reduce paper consumption.

You can keep your consumption of paper down, if you pay more attention to the situations in which you use paper. If you are conscious about when you use different kinds of paper, you may enhance your ability to reduce the amount of paper spent, consider how better to put the paper to use again, as well as identifying which paper ought to go directly to the garbage can.

Copenhagen: Waste-to-Energy-Plants

Copenhagen, Denmark, is no longer using landfills as a general solution to its waste problems. Instead, the city has been reducing waste and using that which is produced as a resource that can be recycled or incinerated for energy.
