Commitment

Buy local food - preferably organic and in season

One way of making an impact on the environment is to shop at your local supermarket, support local and low environment impact food production that provides healthy, quality food while boosting local economy in an an environmentally beneficial manner.

Today many populations expect to be able to eat a large variety of different products, from all over the world, all year round.

In order to reduce climate changes and carbon emissions, we must begin to consider that fruits and vegetables are seasonal. Growing them outside their natural habitat demands more energy and fertilisation.

Industrial agriculture may very well produce food of a particular type of quality, but it is evident that most industrial production - compared to organic production - has a tendency to harm local ecosystems, and may also have high transport impacts.
